Dear Steven,
I believe that there are several `factors' to consider:
1. It depends on the space in the home. Some homes are small or as small as studio apartments especially those in Hong Kong.
Thus, it is difficult to find a good location for an altar.
2. And if the family insists on an altar, then, it is best to come to a general consensus on this within the family.
3. Where possible, if we can, this should be avoided but based on some of the above considerations.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
