Dear Carlos,
1. Usually, if one does not use Feng Shui, go with one's intution.
2. Under Feng Shui, there are considerations like e.g. the compass direction of the location to consider.
3 Here, this is usually referenced with the flying star influence of a specific sector. For example, if the ktichen so happens to have bad wood #4 with say additional #1 watercoupled with the location of the kitchen at the north. Too much green (wood) would not be beneficial as water helps fuel more of bad wood.
